Rika still has a role to play in JJK. Her fate might not be very bright in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

Although this exciting clash has just begun, there are a lot of things that fans are already confused by, such as Yuta's lack of memories in Gojo's body. It will be interesting to see how the author tackles it in the future, but one thing the fans know for sure is that Yuta has no memory of Gojo at this point in time.

Kenjaku's Usage Of The Body Hopping

Kenjaku Was A Master Of His Cursed Technique

The idea of Yuta having memories of Gojo came from Gege’s established plot point within his own series. Clearly, when Kenjaku took over the body of Suguru Geto, he had all of his memories. He knew absolutely everything there was to know about his life, and Kenjaku even explained this to the fans when he mentioned that the body and soul are the same thing. His philosophy was completely different from Mahito's. According to him, the soul is the body and the body is the soul. They cannot exist separately and if they did, then one absolutely could not explain why the memories are given to the host upon taking over a body. To this, Mahito replied that perhaps because their techniques exist in different worlds, there is a slight difference. Still, when it comes to body hopping specifically, fans know for a fact that Kenjaku gained access to all of Geto's memories.

My apologies! It seems I've underestimated you. I didn't think you were capable of going this far…Okkotsu Yuta!

Another thing that proves that the memories truly are stored in the body is the fact that Geto actually decided to choke Kenjaku after hearing Gojo's voice. This was once again an implication of the fact that the soul does have some connection with the body and the information is stored inside somewhere. Similarly, Yuki Tsukumo also specifically spoke to Geto even when Kenjaku was in the body, which once again implies that the soul might have been in the body and this is something that she researched heavily and knew about.

As such, the information that comes from the soul would most likely shape the memories. Clearly, in the case of Kenjaku, body and soul were one, and he had access to everything there was to know about him.

Yuta's Lack Of Memories In Gojo's Body

In the case of Yuta, fans assumed that he would have all of Gojo's memories upon taking over the body. However, it appears that this isn't the case right now, at the very least. In JJK chapter 262, Yuta was able to expand his domain in an attempt to defeat Sukuna. He created a powerful domain and then shrunk it to the size of a tiny ball. This was something that he had seen Gojo doing. Furthermore, the fact that he swapped bodies with Gojo gave him enough experience to increase the level of his barrier techniques by quite a lot. That, when coupled with the fact that Sukuna was weakened, meant that his shrunk barrier would withstand Malevolent Shrine blows for 3 minutes from the outside, at the very least.

Yuta can only use his Copy technique for as long as Rika is fully manifested, which is 5 minutes. What happens after those 5 minutes are up?

Yuta clearly saw Gojo perform these techniques and utilize his experience from within the Prison Realm effortlessly. He was able to successfully copy that, but this wasn't because Yuta had Gojo's memory. This was proven inside the domain, when Sukuna was able to hit Yuta despite maintaining Limitless. This essentially meant that Yuta had no idea about Sukuna using both Domain Expansion and Domain Amplification at the same time.

Gojo had already seen this and if Yuta had Gojo's memories, then he would know this as well. Sukuna also clearly mentioned that inside the domain, nobody saw what was going on, and that simply means that Yuta wasn't aware of their clashes inside.

Jujutsu Kaisen: How Yuta Grew Stronger By Training With Gojo, Explained

Yuta grew tremendously in a short amount of time in JJK. This is how Gojo helped him achieve that.

This caused quite a lot of confusion among the fans. Most fans expected him to have Gojo's memories and, with that, a specific way to counter Sukuna's techniques. At the very least, fans also knew that he would have Gojo's experience and his skill. While he does have his techniques, it appears that Yuta's experience is his own and his control over cursed energy is the same as it was before he swapped as well. This is not taking into consideration any amplification he might have gained by using abilities such as the Six Eyes.

The Possible Reason Why Yuta Doesn't Have Gojo's Memories

Of course, one might wonder as to why Yuta does not have Gojo's memories while Kenjaku clearly had Geto's. Multiple possibilities arise here. The first possibility is that Kenjaku had to work some way to attain all of Geto's memories. Perhaps, the control that he had over the body swapping technique was much greater than that of Yuta, and because of that, he was able to extract all of Saguru's information. This simply means that Yuta, who has just utilized this technique for the very first time, will take some time to explore Gojo's memories and bring out his experience as well. For now, he has no idea about the true potential of Kenjaku's technique and how to utilize it properly.

Another possibility is that Gege simply forgot the rules that he established on his own. Clearly, prior to Yuta utilizing this technique, he established that the body holds all the memories, and that it is the soul in itself. He also backed this up by the many instances that were present in the manga. Now, it appears things have changed somewhat. This can be remedied by Yuta gaining access to Gojo's memories at some point later in this fight. Perhaps, it can also result in Gojo coming back to life. This is because somewhere within Gojo's body, there are going to be his very own memories. Yuta simply has to retrieve them. This might also help Gojo revive after the 5 minutes are up, if these memories take shape of their own, just like Suguru did when Kenjaku was in charge of his body. Things are looking incredibly exciting for the future of JJK, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what ends up happening to Gojo's body after the 5 minutes are up, and if he ever gains control over it later down the line.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263, is set to be June 30, 2024.
