Florida's chances to bring the convention to Miami Beach could suffer if state Republicans took sides early in the nomination strife. Party leaders prefer neutral ground. Cramer said he wouldn't quote party leaders on their reaction Beach's $800,000 that isn't andal' enough, we'll negotiate" invitation to the Republicans.

"But I personally believe if the space requirements of press, radio and television can be met their representatives met with Miami Beach officials very recently at Bliss' request to discuss their requirements I think we have a very good chance to get the convention," he said. Cramer said he was assured by Miami Beach officials that any request, within reason, would be met. The congressman said there were these favorable signs: The full site selection committee visited Miami Beach to inspect facilities, and this was the only city that all members did visit. Miami Beach was one of Just a handful to which Bliss dispatched the news media representatives for a discussion of needs. "Thirdly, I think," Cramer said, "it's a natural site, particularly in view of the election on March 28." Florida, he said, is now a true two party state, the first in the old South.

Crime War, Tax Bills Head List (Continued from Page 1) count discounts and closing costs that have no resale value, and up commissions to tax assessors to encourage reassessments. Also proposed were measures to give the state comptroller the same control over municipal assessors that he has over county assessors and making tax collecting and reporting uniform in order to restore public confidence. Sen. Ralph Poston, Miami, proposed some forum where small landowners could air their "gripes, growls and groans" and the committee generally praised Comptroller Fred Dickinson for his strong job of enforcing 100 per cent valuation of property. A subcommittee said consideration should be given to bills to eliminate household goods from ad valorem taxes and to continue assessments of a merchant's inventory or at 100 per cent of value but tax it at only 20 per cent or some reasonable figure.

Sen. Lawton Chiles, Lakeland, proposed a ceiling on property taxes, freezing millage at its presention level in order to force of a substitute tax source. The big problem facing this session, the lawmakers agreed, is how much money will be given for support of schools and how much of it will come from states sales taxes and how much from local property taxes. Local real estate taxes now provide $300 million a year for schools. The crime war got off to a running start with Miami Sens.

George Hollahan and Robert Shevin taking opposite sides. Shevin put in the attorney general's package program, calling for a 30-man armed racket squad with full police powers including the right to search and make arrests. Hollahan proposed that the Sheriff's Bureau be expanded and the governor given full power to send its investigators anywhere at will. Funeral Notices CHIVERS, MRS. He was a Terrorists Push Aden Fighting ADEN (A) Terrorists attacked with mortars and automatic rifles yesterday in a battle with British troops protected by armored cars in an Arab quarter of Aden. Less than a mile away, terrorists threw two grenades at British troops guarding a U.N. mission visiting a security jail for political prisoners. No casualties were reported at the jail, but six Arabs and two British soldiers were wounded in fighting elsewhere.

The terrorists belong to two groups that oppose the U.N. mission's task of helping Southern Arabia achieve independence next year. They have promised not to harm the mission but have vowed to step up attacks on the British, who claim both are under Egyptian influence. The two are the Front for the Liberation of Occupied Yemen (FLOSY), which considers Aden a part of Yemen, and the rival National Liberation Front (NLF). Both want the federation of South Arabia, which includes Aden, broken up after the British withdraw from the protectorate.

42 Hours After Arrest, Pair Sent to Prison LA BELLE (By Staff Writer) Two Immokalee Negroes were convicted of cattle rustling and sentenced to two years in Raiford yesterday, 42 hours after their arrest. Wilson Battles, 56, unemployed, and James T. Williams, a cook, entered guilty pleas to the charge before Circuit Judge Harold S. Smith. They were apprehended early Monday by Frank Skinner, an employe of the Hilliard Cattle from which a yearling black Angus steer was stolen.

Skinner, who lives near the cow pens at Dinner Island on State Road 846, awakened by barking dogs about 4 a.m. He drove to the cow pens and found Battle and Williams asleep in a car which had blood smeared on a large area of the trunk and rear, and fresh cow viscera in cow pens 30 feet east of the car. Waiting quietly until a tractor driver came to work, Skinner sent the man to telephone for help, and told Battle and Williams when they awakened at 7:30 a.m. they'd have to wait. Battles fled northwest into the woods, but was picked up later in an Immokalee store.
